A little bit about me

I’m a middle school teacher librarian in Mississauga, Ontario who lives in Toronto. I started out teaching physical education, then gifted kids, then a mishmash of almost everything, and now I’ve been in the library and computer lab for five years.  I opened a brand new school library last year, but decided not to stay, and now I’m going to be at a fairly old school building in September, but I’m looking forward to it.

I have a wonderful seventeen year old son, an incredibly talented husband, the best mom in the world and a German Shepherd who thinks she’s human. I also have a great brother and sister, but I don’t see as much of them as everyone else.

People who know me will tell you that I don’t sleep very much and I stay up into the wee hours of the morning quite frequently. Often I am just falling into bed when my husband is waking up to walk our dog! I think I have circadian rthyms that just prefer to be learning and doing stuff rather than wasting time sleeping. I have an almost obsessive desire to know things; how to do it, and how it applies to me and my world. If I can’t figure something out, I do NOT give up – EVER. If I think I should be able to make something work, I just keep on digging away at it until I solve the problem or someone takes pity on me and helps.

I love reading, technology and photography. I also love watching my son play Ultimate for his Ontario Provincial Team; Dirt.

I have another blog I maintain at http://www.mac.com/janicerobertson but I couldn’t get that to display in the SLJ Learn Together Now netvibe site, so I created this one just for the duration of the All Together Now 12 things.

  1. Flesh out your “about” page so we can learn about you–figure out what your context is. I’e enjoyed what Ive read so ar, and Im SO GLAD this is not a “blogger” platform. Hopefully it will not be blocked at school. PS–Magic describes me too–when I do simple things at work like “reboot” or plug something in….They think Im absolutely magic!
